Rosme

A sub-section of the Women's Auxiliary committee (Damu Komiteja), Rosme was established in 1965 and uses monthly meetings to provide social support for the elderly.

These meetings are based around entertainment and include films, guest speakers and TV programs from Latvia.

These help keep everyone up to date with what's going on in the "old" land.

Rosme also presents an opportunity to meet with friends, to sing, celebrate birthdays and other cultural events.

Rosme's motto is a verse by a Latvian Poet Fricis Barda;

Pagurst cela bezdeliga,
Pagurst cela ubelparis
Vien tu, dvesle, nepagursti-
Trauc tiem garam,
Trauc tiem pari.
The swallow tires along its course,
And doves grow weary as they fly:
But you alone, my soul, tire-not-
You sweep past them,
And soar on high.
